Sandi Rigby
After a career as a graphic artist, Sandi Rigby turned to printmaking and etching, training at the Sydney Gallery School and Meadowbank TAFE. Beginning her studies in 1997, she has developed a practice that encompasses painting, drawing, etching, and artists’ books. Her work often explores landscape themes, drawing inspiration from local bush walks, travel, and overseas art residencies. She seeks to capture the mood of her subjects through colour, texture, pattern, and detail, layering plates and working both realistically and conceptually, sometimes incorporating stylised abstraction.
Sandi Rigby has received numerous awards and has exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions, with works held in galleries across Australia. Living on Sydney’s North Shore, she continues to respond to the natural world—landscapes, animals, birds, and plants—through a nuanced and deeply personal artistic vision.
